Bright and structured
Fresh acidity with notes of wild fruit and woodland spice.

El Merlu is our take on Barbera, one of Piedmont’s most beloved red grapes. Planted on the clay soils of Barge, where the land is gentler and the light a little warmer, this wine shows Barbera’s full energy without losing its freshness. It’s a red that speaks clearly and drinks easily — classic in spirit, but with a mountain soul.

The blackbird, that’s where the name comes from. In dialect, El Merlu is the bird that lands on vineyard posts, just before sunset. It stays a moment, quiet and still, as if checking on the vines. We see it often, and it feels like a sign: a watcher, a guest, maybe even a guardian. That’s the spirit of this wine — vivid, grounded, and always part of the place.
